Kingstar Farm has announced Melbourne Group 3 winner Bull Point will be its foundation sire in the Hunter Valley. Proprietor Matthew Sandblom will also stand Salade (Snitzel) and Monaco Consul (High Chaparral) at the Denman property which was formerly known as Redman Park.
Bull Point (5h Fastnet Rock – Rose of Cimmaron by Bite the Bullet) was purchased by Coolmore Stud agent Demi O’Byrne for a sale-topping $960,000 at the 2012 Gold Coast Magic Millions and was prepped by Gai Waterhouse to win late-season juveniles at Randwick and Rosehill.
He stayed in training and charged home from last for an eye-catching placing behind Zoustar and Dissident in the G1 Golden Rose at his only start as a spring three year-old. Resuming the following February, he accelerated and dropped some quality rivals in the G3 Manfred Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield.
Back in work at four after transferring to Chris Waller, he failed to salute the judge in Sydney and Melbourne but was placed in the G3 Show County, G2 Theo Marks, G1 Sir Rupert Clarke and G2 Crystal Mile.
“He has all the attributes of a good stallion,” Sandblom said. “He’s a great type from a great family and his youngster brother was a $1.20 million yearling at the Inglis Easter Sale last month.”
Bull Point (pictured) is a three-quarter brother-in-blood to Fastnet Rock stakes-winners Amah Rock and Upon This Rock. His dam Rose of Cimmaron is a winning sister to Group 3 winner Mica’s Pride, the dam of stakes winners Criterion, Varenna Miss and Silently.
